you know you've spent too much when...

here's mine: when you start labeling gifts to your children from the pets...

(instead of mom or dad, you start saying they are from simon or rosie (our cats) or alfred (our hamster) or chubbie (our bunny) or...)

please - feel free to add yours :)

also i thought when they start opening presents you gave them that even you are surprised about. that is either over-spending or short-term memory loss.

Because we don't have kids yet, our dogs tend to be our foster children (although, that being said, we certainly know that they are DOGS and not people - some people have trouble with the distinction, but that's another story) We are a small family, so we have fun with the idea of presents from the dogs. It tickles my in-laws to no end, because they adore the dogs, especially our dachshund. We put little paw prints on the christmas cards, and this year we've even given my mom a treat jar for the dogs (she spoils them) - from, you guessed it, the dogs. It's been tough keeping them away from that package under the tree though - I think they smell the lamb & rice biscuits inside the cookie jar :) Have a wonderful Christmas!
