i know, i know - as if the news about the feastday of St. Martha wasn't enough for you all today, guess who was voted BEST BREAKFAST in south jersey?
that's okay, i'll wait.
**whistles and looks down at ground coyly**
(insert bell and whistle noises here)
yeppers!! can you believe it?? it feels like the sun is starting the break through the clouds and a choir of angels resound with joy!
my husband called me early yesterday morning to tell me he opened the "Best of the Best" insert to the paper, immediately looked to see who won and about fell over when he saw our name - nobody ever contacted us for advertising, to tell us, send us a certificate, NOTHING! what a shocker!!
man, what i can do with this little bit of marketing (rubs hands together gleefully...) this is the second time we have won this coveted award (not really coveted, but never underestimate the power of bragging rights for a mom & pop business) in four years. help me come up with good slogans to use for my sign out front and faxes, emails and my website. tia :)
oh, and by the way? the "one of the best" (second place) finisher?
IHOP, MULTIPLE LOCATIONS
(we took on "the man" and wooohooo!!!!)
(in all humility, when you have been praying for so long that God sends you a little bit of a break - this goes such a long way, thank you Lord, thank you Lord, thank you Lord...)
also a request for ideas:
we are making up *goodie bags* for a golf outing that is being held sunday - it's for women golfers and there are 24 of them. we have to limit them to $5/bag and would like to make a profit, but for this, i actually wouldn't care about breaking even because they had them made by someone else last year and thought they were just *okay*. i want ours to be like "wow, isn't this cool?"
so far we have going into them:
bottle of water
homemade brownie
fresh apple
baggie of trail mix
wet nap & napkin
chewing gum (i thought to keep costs down, instead of an entire pack in each bag, i'll head for sam's and get a package of the sugar-free stick gum (bulk) and get out like three pieces and tie them with a little ribbon - hey, they're women golfers, remember that!)
the bags aren't the small brown lunch bags, but white and a bit roomier, so we can fit maybe one other *cool* item in them - any suggestions?
