odds and ends, part 2

been laying low, for various reasons (still). wanted to post something in general, though, so y'all will know i've not fallen off the earth's face:

1. breaking toes = not so good. standing for hours at a time, also in same category. when i food shop, it takes me entirely too long because i am easily distracted (only at food store, i am not a mall-walker). husband suggested acme.com and i went ahead and ordered groceries thursday night and they were delivered by a nice man in a refrigerated truck on friday at 12:45 p.m. he even brought them into my kitchen. i cannot even tell you how blessed i felt, albeit a bit silly because i can stand and make omelets and do catering, but food shop for my family? sha.

small glitch on order so i called and said i wanted seedless grapes, they sent globe grapes with seeds and they took the price off my order. dig that. stuff was put away, family is happy there is food in the house and i can say i honestly saved about $75 not impulse shopping. the delivery charge was $9.95, but i qualified for a free tropicana o.j. which was $2.50 (i think, i don't buy it) so i guess the order delivery ws $7.25. take away the $5 for grapes and heck, i guess i did okay for my family, huh?

2. went to the eagles game last night. note to self: if you cannot grocery shop for family, you shouldn't be able to walk (limp) two miles since there was no parking and crawl under wrought iron fences in a dress in order to cut across parking lot.

* cost of ticket to sit eight rows back from goal post: $65. each.
* cost for show in front of tailgaters when doing a crawl & roll under fence? you'd have to ask them.
* cost of crawl and roll under fence in front of children? respect earned. (worth it)
* night out with family? priceless.

3. when daughter told me her friend was being bat-mitzvah'ed (proper term rcj or aye?) at the end of august, she failed to mention the price tag that would go along with her attendance at same. however, taking this photograph of molly & her friends in front of the synagogue in their dress-up clothes helped ease the pain in my ears of the seemingly perpetual *cha-ching* of the registers over the past two weeks. totally worth it.

molly & girlies at bat mitzvah

i've watched her walk around the house for days with her dress draped over her neck while still on the hanger and practice walking in her 1.5" heels, remembering when i first put booties on her.....she allowed me to curl her hair and apply make-up to her huge brown eyes.....she very rarely lets me do anything "girlie" with her and the last two days spent at the manicurist and picking up last minute things have made me hum the tune "it's great, being a girl..."

now if she'd have only stayed a wee one forever.....
