benefit for the bayou

what a day (and night!)

i am too tired to go into [too much] detail but will say the food was awesome - pictured here we had a variety of offerings from german potato salad, baked penne pasta, hot roast beef au jus, jambalaya, barbecued pulled pork and barbecued pork & beans (oh. my. Lord. soooo goood) plus salads and rolls, tons of desserts. people pulled through like you can't believe.

and we ended up spending about $20 on sodas. you really can't complain about that.

the folks were patiently waiting for the balance of the food to arrive while the band was setting up - i have to tell you, the music was unbelievable - these kids - these high school kids - were incredible and God bless them all, they had an announcement over their high school's p.a. system that they were appearing at the benefit and the price included food and they literally made up 85% of my attendees. good idea, inviting this band to play along with us, brilliant.

and they were so polite and respectful. no mosh pit, but loud. oooofah, loud. my ears are still buzzing this morning...i am old. er. my busboy's band played after and they are a bit older, college-aged kids - they were wonderful. i was really in awe over the fact that this guy buses tables for me and is simply wicked-good on the bass guitar.

i still have a boat-load of tee shirts for sale if anyone is interested. here is a pic of my hub caught off-guard sporting the shirt - i will upload it to my sidebar later along with my paypal button if anyone would like to buy one - they are $10 and the proceeds will still go to crystal and fish for anything i sell through the blog.

we came away with making about $1400 - split between the two (fish & crys and the american red cross), i'll be mailing out money orders to each entity for $700 later this week.

not too shabby.
