it has been established that many of us look at situations in life as potential bloggable matters, and now that i am in a composition class, i look at things more or less in line with essays. which is why y'all aren't seeing me as much because i am doing homework, thanks for asking...
today at Mass, however, i had an idea for something i wanted to paint. i had painted a chalice and paten (plate) set at ceramics for crystal and fish so they's have something special to use when they had service during their home church for communion. blonde me mailed it via priority mail the saturday before katrina hit; meaning, they would have received the gift the monday or tuesday, when things were in full force. doh!!
needless to say, i haven't gotten it back yet as the postal services in that area are completely out of kilter and for good reason. am not really desirous of receiving the box at this point because who knows what shape the objects are in, so i'd rather remain ignorant as to what exactly happened to this particular gift. the thought was there, and once they settle (here bloweth the surprise), i will make another set.
that was a digression, but at Mass today after i had received communion, i recited the anima christi which is a beautiful, ancient (14th century) prayer that arrows right to my core - it really is lovely and i will print it here instead of providing a hyperlink:
Soul of Christ, sanctify me
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me
Water from Christ's side, wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O good Jesus, hear me
Within Thy wounds hide me
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee
From the malicious enemy defend me
In the hour of my death call me
And bid me come unto Thee
That I may praise Thee with Thy saints
and with Thy angels
Forever and ever
Amen
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me
Water from Christ's side, wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O good Jesus, hear me
Within Thy wounds hide me
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee
From the malicious enemy defend me
In the hour of my death call me
And bid me come unto Thee
That I may praise Thee with Thy saints
and with Thy angels
Forever and ever
Amen
is that not gorgeous? i pray it after communion, every single time. i just adore it because i adore Christ and want to hide in His wounds, but that's yet another digression and another post...
i was struck with the idea to create a chalice for my friend Father Danny that has around the rim at the top "Blood of Christ, inebriate me" and if there is not enough room, to finish it going down and around the body of the chalice. also, making a paten with the words, "Body of Christ, save me."
remember, i have creative commons license here and i'm not afraid to use it :)
you are a creative bunch - do you think in terms of creating and if so, what do you *do* with it?
