...i swore i was never going to teach 8th grade religious ed class again? and i believe i asked for reminders of that fact when september rolled around?
where were you guys?
are you not reading my blog?
are you not desirous of helping a sister out??
okay, well, i am not formally teaching, but am substituting for another 8th grade catechist who cannot take the reins until october 24th because of his *social* commitments. i thought, "i can do anything for a couple of weeks, but until the 24th? that's ridiculous..."
until i met his class. i want to take over his class and don't want him to come back and teach at all because i will lock him out.
i so will.
these kids were wonderful. they were bright and funny and fun and maybe i liked them so much be cause there was only 13 of them (as opposed to the 22 i had last year) and i have no responsibility "to them" like i would if they were "mine," but now i feel torn because i have a desire to teach and know i should just be satisfied with substituting and maybe being "everyone's favorite sub" - by the time they left last week, they were going to circulate a petition to oust mr. x in my favor.
not very Christian-like, but good for the ole girl's ego.
i know i have a lot on my plate and if it is God's desire for me to be more involved than on a substitute level, He has His way of making that happen. i just thought all of this was funny in an ironic sort of way.
to the matter at hand: one of the students in this class is a proclaimed atheist. i heard it from her mouth directly and told her that her saying so didn't bother me, but that by the end of my time with her, i'd have her wanting to go to Mass...she said she hadn't been in 4 years. molly saw her at the 4:30 Mass on saturday, so already...
however.
i heard from the 'vine this past weekend this very same girl was involved in a fist fight at the high school football game with another girl and that the police were called. this can't be good, but prior to jumping to conclusions based on "hearsay," i will wait until this evening to learn the facts as she relates them...i do believe that this leaves a wide open segue for what to teach on tonight, since i am the substitute and he has no lesson plans.
the 7 deadly sins sounds about right. i also happened upon the 7 gummie sins. certainly worth a look :)
anyone else have any other suggestions?
