my friend alexa, who hails from canada, *happened* to be in the area on tuesday and came into the restaurant -- my husband, whose memory failures rival mine, told me yesterday: "A lady was in to see you and Minnie said she seemed sad you weren't in, but she left you something..."
you never know if it is one of those "suspicious" packages from a dissatisfied customer, so i was leery....
he came back in and handed me a bag: inside was an antique porcelain figurine of the Infant of Prague and a note signed from "Alexa insert-last-name-here." i thought, "oh, you are kidding me!!" the note was from alexa herself and an adorable one from Rocky, her son, which i may need a bit of help in deciphering, but i was totally blown away that she was (a) in the area, (b) stopped in to see me, and (c) was in the area and stopped in to see me!!
takes a lot to shock the ole girl these days :) i was blown away.
a nicer gift i could not have received, miss alexa, and the warmth that stayed with me the entire night remains with me now --- i am so very sorry i wasn't there, i would have been if i could have but my life is richer because of your thoughtfulness!
how cool is this Internet?
