be careful what you hope for

i have an appointment with a local endocrinologist on march 9, which seems a lifetime away. when i met with Dr. Infectious Disease, he even said "that's a long time to wait...try to get in to see Dr. Endocrinologist Offshore, we'll get you in."
this doctor is tough to get an appointment with, to say the least. he is also highly recommended by many of the medical staff i work with, so i felt it would be worth a try. their office was closed for the day when my doctor's office tried so i was encouraged by Receptionist of Dr. Infectious Disease to try on my own, and so i did.
Dr. Endo Offshore had hours for new patients available beginning may of 2007.
may. 2007.
"i will either be dead by then from the anxiety over waiting or on tranquilizers." i really don't hold back, not when my thyroid is on the line.
Dr. Endo Offshore's Rather Cool Receptionist said, "Have your doctor's office fax over your information and Dr. Offshore will review and if he feels it necessary, we will see what we can do to get you in a bit sooner."
sighed. after another round of confusing telephone conversations, i was told my info was faxed and we would hear from Dr. Endo Offshore "sometime next week" (read: this week, maybe) only if he felt it was urgent enough to see me before may.
i just got the phone call: february 13th. that is way before may and way before march 9 and while i should be relieved (i am, sort of), i am now thinking he thinks it is important and i don't know what else. oh, Lord.
hooooboy.
(where's my paxil?)

dont know where yours is but want some of mine?
Your (spiritual) "paxil" can be found thru the power of the Holy Spirit...look into your heart, and there He is - your Comforter, Advocate and Guide... You have access, thru the vehicle of your faith, to Peace, Hope, Comfort & Strength. You will not be alone in ANYTHING that happens, or anything you will face... He said that He would never leave you, nor forsake you. Not only that, but Jesus said that we would have trouble in this world...but not to be fearful or anxious, because He has already overcome the world = victory is His. And so, victory is ours, one day at a time...until the day we see Him, face to face... and we FINALLY understand what all these struggles, testing, difficulties and agonies were all about...
Please keep us notified of your status (medical and otherwise)... and know that prayers continue to be offered up... A few days ago, in our early morning scripture reading, we read from Matthew, were Jesus said that we were not to be anxious or to worry for anything. Not always easy to do, but easy or not, it's something very specific that He instructed us about.
Your medical condition is of serious concern; but my (our) faith says that you are (definitely) in His Hands. At this very moment. And when you take your next breath. As well as the moment you are walking into Dr. Endo Offshore's office... He will be holding you, as you go there to gather more info on what is happening with your body.
In His Grace & Peace...
Hugs penni. Feb 13th must seem like a lifetime away, but am glad you got the appointment. Thinking of you.
That's wonderful news! Even though it seems a lifetime away it is surely by the grace of God that you got in the door that much sooner. He's watching out for you, you know...and so are we.
:-)
march 9 was a lifetime away...february 13 is 3 weeks. i can deal.
i think.
This is good news Penni
hugs and heaps of blessings to you.

Penni, it's a good thing that you can be seen earlier. The earlier that you can recieve treatment, should it be necessary, the better.
I am sorry i haven't let you know this earlier, but I have been and will continue to be praying for your health situation.
(((hug)))
penni~ I am going to Divine Liturgy right now, and will be offering my prayers and communion for your intentions. I will ask the Lover of Mankind to heal you, soul and body together. Blessings!
God, please hold Penni gently.
Amen to Kristin's preaching moment. Even if you don't "feel" it, God is there.
Hi Penni, Still praying over here.
Oh my, MM... I am so sorry I haven't been checking in regularly.
I am going to catch up by reading the posts I have missed.
I will pray for you, sis.
If there is anything I can do for you, let me know.
I did a painting during the Christmas Eve service at our church (I posted about it), and for some reason you came to mind several times then. I should have ccome right over and read your blog.
I will try to be more faithful.
Why are you borrowing troubles. It is nothing until it is something. Maybe they got you in sooner simply because they actually had a faxed referral from your Dr.
Count your blessings and leave the worries for someone else.
My prayers go with you.
you know as well as I that our healthcare in the USA is seriously inconsistent - but it is great that you were able to get in earlier and with the top doc too boot. I hope that this means more that you are valued as a member of the team than that you have a more serious illness. Keep us posted. Prayers going up as usual.
BTW, I was thinking about you at the last few births I attended. The local Catholic hospital (the one I prefer to have patients at for many reasons not just the faith angle) has WONDERFUL OB techs - I hadn't really worked with them before but they really add to the birth. They are present but unobtrusive, they get whatever is needed and know where everything is, and they change direction on a dime to see that everyone's needs are met.
