the tragedy at Virginia Tech was horrific and we all asked earlier this week "how" or "why"?

now with all of the details that are emerging from professors and peers, and information regarding incidents that were reported to security about the gunman for the past year and a half about his stability -- further evidenced by his multi-media manifesto which is chilling to watch even excerpts of -- there remains an even greater question-- how did he slip through the cracks? this poor, twisted soul slipped through the cracks. warning signs were given, flares were set off and yet, it still happened.

it progressed from "how" and "why" to ultimately, "when"?
