in my time of recovery (two whole days), i have found that i am not necessarily immersed in scripture, but watching movies such as school of rock and quoting dewey finn (it's a prayer though, give me a break - at least i didn't play the *hangover* wav...)

i find myself watching the discovery health channel and watching babies come into the world. i can watch this 24/7; i should be a labor and delivery room nurse. instead, i flip eggs.

watch a little oprah, recognize the *hoarder* in me and feel the instant desire to get up and clean, but i can't because i am disabled.

went to target today and got b's stuff for his new house and some school stuff so he'd feel important, like he should study. i used the shopping cart for leverage and yes, was walking around (read: hobbling) and felt good about what i got; unfortunately, his idea of the sheets i chose and mine differ somewhat: i happened to think, even though he'll be 21 in october, that batman sheets and throw was a brilliant idea, he did not and they will be returned. i thought they would dissuade him from entertaining any, ahem, *ladies* in his room, he agreed they would, which is why they must be returned.

to the batcave.

he did, however, relent and say he'd keep the batman toothbrush and the ninja turtle toothpaste. he's not so grown up afterall.

i am also blog-hopping, reading, not saying too much, finding there's a lot of contemplative people in the world, lots of hurting, lots of scandals, lots of silliness, lots of folks i've really grown fond of.

and no, my bookkeeping is not yet finished because i cannot sit for too long of a period of time before the numbness sets it. i won't qualify what is going numb.

Robin: "Boy! That was our closest call ever! I have to admit that I was pretty scared!"
Batman: "I wasn't scared in the least."
Robin: "Not at all?"
Batman: "Haven't you noticed how we always escape the vicious ensnarements of our enemies?"
Robin: "Yeah, because we're smarter than they are!"
Batman: "I like to think it's because our hearts are pure."

pax.

edited to say that there is a sentimental link to batman for my son and me: when he was little, he always walked around with a pillow-case "cape" pinned to whatever shirt he was wearing at the time; even for church. i grew up with the campy batman & robin (which i quoted above), so it's one of those "family" things...
