time to make the donuts...

well, almost.

when we first opened our restaurant five years ago, in order for my husband to have one full day off a week, this former legal secretary was trained to become a short-order cook so i could open the restaurant for him, which meant up at 4:00 a.m. and out by 5:00 a.m. in order to open by 6:00 (a.m.)

God bless him, bruce came along and that all changed. after he had proven that he could *do that job, but no one'll let me!*, we gave him our second set of keys and he became *the man* i can honestly say that is when i first loved him: he relieved me of my 4:00 a.m. wake-up calls twice a week. **sigh**

with bruce's passing, the obligation has now returned to me. it is with a happy heart that i give my guy a day off, but it is with profound sadness at the realization why. bruce and i used to work together (in the beginning) during these early morning shifts and we would have the most wonderful talks about the Lord, about his art (he was a sculptor), about his "past..."

i am off to work. please pray for me.
