we, as catechists, are invited every year to have dinner with all the priests and the bishop (in this case, the monsignor) prior to the service and that is always fun...great conversations and the food was wonderful.
what a holy night; the monsignor who presided over mass had the most spirit-filled homily - i was the lead-off lector with a reading from the prophet Isaiah - one of my favorites (aren't they all my favorites?) - taken from Isaiah 61
The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me; He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the lowly, to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives and release to the prisoners, To announce a year of favor from the LORD and a day of vindication by our God, to comfort all who mourn; To place on those who mourn in Zion a diadem instead of ashes, To give them oil of gladness in place of mourning, a glorious mantle instead of a listless spirit. They will be called oaks of justice, planted by the LORD to show his glory.i was tremendously blessed for so many reasons, but it's been a long day and i need to get up at 4:00 a.m. to be at work tomorrow at 5:00. please say a prayer for my 22 Holy-Spirit infused students who were absolutely glowing.
God is good, all the time.
