i have been outside since 7:00 a.m. was going to go for a bike ride but no front brakes; decided it was time to turn my attention to the earth.
i am so glad i did. renee had a great post today about ants and their significance, and i had many catchy little analogies to spin: thyme began in a garden, planting virtues and digging up vices, how amazing are you, Lord, that you have even considered to make such a pretty flower like lily of the valley so flipping invasive and am i the only one in Your creation that has no love for them?
i was planting and uprooting and rearranging. cleaning out the beds of the leaves and errant weeds and thinking yes, God, you were able to have everything grow even when my mind and heart wasn't out here, but how much better does it look when i give it a little bit of attention and now that the good plants aren't being strangled by the roots of the weeds, how much better will they be able to grow?
i know there are really good parable-type analogies to be woven from all of this, but after almost 14 hours of dedicating my day to the earth and its fullness, i am simply too tired to figure it out.
also cleaned out all bird feeders and filled my hummingbird feeder with some of their special ~kool aid~ i had the pleasure of seeing my first hummingbird tonight at my coral honeysuckle.
hummingbirds are amazing. i stood in awe, quiet, thrilled.
it was a good day.
