Leonard Perkins - Sermon on the Mount
i know i am a day late in posting this but didn't want to be living on my blog all day yesterday, so i saved it for today :)
yesterday was the Feast Day of St. Andrew the Apostle. one of the readings i was honored to present was Romans 10: 9 - 18, and when i tried to highlight *the good parts*, i found it impossible, but verse 15 asks: And how can men preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach good news!" the Gospel was from Matthew 4:18, and in verse 19 in particular, Jesus says to Simon and Andrew: And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
in his homily, the visiting monsignor spoke of different ways we can evangelize - the Gospel was - not all of us are exhorters, some are quiet spirits, and as impossible as it seems, not all have internet access so as much as we are doing to spread the good news in our blogs and otherwise (think: message boards), what can we do in *real life* to spread the good news?
does it have to be something as obvious as saying, "well, Jesus said in the Gospel of John..." or can it be as simple as getting your child a glass of water in the middle of the night when you'd rather stay in bed? we can do a lot for Jesus without saying a word, no?
tell me your thoughts on how you spread the good news - how beautiful are your feet?
