Jeremias 29:11-14(a) - Douay-Rheims Version
For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of affliction, to give you an end and patience. And you shall call upon me, and you shall go. and you shall pray to me, and I will hear you. You shall seek me, and shall find me: when you shall seek me with all your heart. And I will be found by you, saith the Lord: and I will bring back your captivity...

Jeremiah 29:11-14(a) - New Jerusalem Bible
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end. You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart. You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart. I will be found of you, says Yahweh, and I will turn again your captivity...

Jeremiah 29:11-14(a) - New American Bible
For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare, not for woe! plans to give you a future full of hope. When you call me, when you go to pray to me, I will listen to you. When you look for me, you will find me. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart, you will find me with you, says the LORD, and I will change your lot...

and this is probably the most beautiful, to me:
Jeremiah 29:11-14(a) - Interlinear Scripture Translation

For I know the thoughts I think toward you, saith the LORD. Thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then ye shall call upon me and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me and find me when ye shall seek me with all your heart, and I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity...

~*~*~*~

these are four different translations of the same verse i was led to seek out this morning, first thing. instead of making a resolution i will eventually break by february, i am going to claim this is as my Scripture verse for the New Year; my mantra, if you will. for when things get tough - and i know they will - they may be lessened somewhat by this beautiful affirmation. i resolve to to pray it when i wake every morning so i am reminded of Who Exactly Is In Charge...

peace and blessings to you and yours in the New Year!
