"Our Lamb"
Owen W. Swain

i have followed owen's journey to the Catholic faith almost since the inception of his original luminous miseries blog. he was very quiet about "who" he was and had every reason to be until he made the decision to leave his job as a Protestant minister, convert to Catholicism, and then reveal to his readers that he is also an artist, as well.

as someone who certainly has more of an appreciation for art than a talent to paint it herself, i was intrigued by his news of being an artist and while surfing through his "onionboy" site, i caught a glimpse of an older piece he had that attracted me to his work even moreso. i commissioned him, in september of 2005, actually, to paint something just like it for me. it arrived today.

i collect original spiritual pieces and have for several years. i like eclectic and fun (as per my monk lithograph i shared some time ago) and i like serious. however, i seriously adore what my friend has made for me and know when i look at it, it is not simply a piece of art but a meditation and a prayer from one friend to another. i am beyond blessed.

he tells us as he ends each post on his blog to ::thrive!

owen, i pray you ::thrive! indeed...
