whole grain pancakes, anyone? anyone??

one of the cool by-products about working at the hospital is i have gained some new customers at the Cafe. no, i do not hand out business cards to the families i have encountered (although....) but some of the nurses have taken to stopping by more than once in the two months i have been there and i love that!

a sampling of yesterday's conversation with a group of them:

"are you working at the restaurant tomorrow, penni?"

"yep."

one chimes into conversation: "oh! i was in last week when your husband made that stuffed french toast with peanut butter and strawberry preserves! it was a-maze-ing..."

"i can't believe you ate that, steph! i never thought it would sell....have you ever had our stuffed french toast, stuffed with cream cheese and strawberry preserves? that's pretty good (or so i hear, i don't eat it, but i am digressing...)"

"no WAY! that sounds incredible! i would order that in a heart beat!"

all nod heads in agreement, smiling. nice group of ladies, these....

filing papers in the filing cabinet, i say "well, girls -- i am opening tomorrow -- last week, i made buckwheat pancakes and i understand we have our jersey blues out this week so i am making whole wheat pancakes with our jersey blueberries tomorrow (feeling all sorts of healthy in my offering, tyvm....)"

::blink, blink::
~*silence*~
::crickets chirping in background::

i look up and they are all looking at me, blankly.

"when's jimbo working again?"
