my max
is just a really cool kid.
his drum instructor has a friend who is a guitar instructor. they got together and have decided to match some of their best students to form a reggae band; max was chosen to be in this side band, apart from the band he is already involved in that recently won an area "battle of the bands."
yeah, it is cool, isn't it?
so he tells one of his current band buds online that he has this *thing* with the guitar instructor's students and was told by said bud that he is "violating the 'pact' they had" not to join up with any other side "ventures." max told this guy he wanted to tell the rest of the band himself because he didn't want any hard feelings, it is an assignment from his drum instructor...well, band dude #1 told two out of three other band dudes and the other two told max not to tell the main guy because they have another "battle of the bands" coming up at school and they don't want to blow their chances of maybe winning again.
he decided that the best defense was a good offense (a little prompting from the 'rents, but that's okay, right?) and he called him after mass this evening. turns out, this guy thought the whole thing was cool and all is well. battle of the bands, still going forward. max, still in "a case of hysteria."
i am so proud when my kids step up to the plate and brave it out. takes courage and a certain amount of forthrightness to do so -- for a shy guy like my max, it means all the more.
