when was the last time you did this?

mad drummer
taken by me :)

went out friday night to a cool bar in atlantic city where my son's band had a gig, along with three other bands...$10 cover charge, $15 for wristband which identified you as a free beer drinker all evening. cool things to note:

* couches on porch. just to hang out and talk, but still be able to hear the music without being deafened by it

* bar was about 75 years old, cool pressed-tin ceilings, rich wood, neat set-up, but had that cigarettes-out-on-the-carpet and beer-spilled-and-not-cleaned-up-right-away smell to it. i love the smell of dankness in a bar :)

* for 16 year-old guys, they did well. really, really well- they held the crowd, captivated many, and were pretty "on" - another battle of the bands coming up in about a week and a half, i am hoping i can keep up with their circuit!

i had a blast - took a ton of pics and may upload them to flickr later on. max wanted to stay until the last band went on out of respect and the fact that his drum instructor was this band's drummer -- they were awesome, too, and are opening up for the Lost Prophets (whoever they are, i hope they actually show up and aren't, well you know...) at the House of Blues in the next week or so and i can see why max is getting a little better each week - his instructor is awesome.

we stayed -- hoo, boy, did we stay -- didn't get to bed unitl 2:30 a.m. which is a bit later than my usual 10:00 p.m. max is way fun to hang with and we had a great time, even though i felt rather beat up the entire next day...
