[regarding Invoking the name of Jesus...]

...The invocation of the name Jesus helps, above all, to crush at the onset thoughts of pride, self-gratification, anger or impure thoughts and to develop, instead, good thoughts. All we have to do is observe our own thoughts as if they weren't ours and follow their development. It is clear straightaway where a certain thought is going to lead us -- to God our to ourselves; whether it will result in his glory or ours.
