coolest mother's day ever

antique drying racki feel quite comfortable posting when i am happy because Lord knows, you have all seen me when i am darn near desolate. i guess this is a "consolation" phase, bless God for allowing me to feel and experience it!

my husband and i worked so very hard yesterday; kept focused and served over 250 meals, which may not sound like a lot, but we are little and were only opened from 7:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. we kicked it out, didn't panic, it was okay, no matter how long the line out the door got :)

to my sheer delight, he bought me what is pictured here: an antique drying rack. he was pleased with himself because he feels he never does well for holidays (he does just fine, save for the birthday we won't mention ever again) and has never bought me anything that was antique. he *done good* and i thought i'd show you what it looked like. if you click on the picture, it gets REALLY BIG but you can see it up close - maybe it's me, but i find it to be very cool.

my oldest son also surprised me with a gorgeous cameo necklace of a mother and child. i was so touched...max got me an allison krauss c.d. and molly, a day at the spa and poetry written from her sixth grade heart. i have it up with all the others from previous years. i am one of *those ones who sing the praises of mother's day* because i love being a mom and my children are my treasures, entrusted to me by God and i love this day like no other when it comes to celebrating being a mother.

one of the biggest blessings i received, however, came from my niece - my sister-in-law called and said "bel wants to talk to you..." she got on the phone and asked if i would be her sponsor for confirmation!! i was so blown away: i am uncle jimbo's wife, right? these types of honors usually stay smack in the middle of the family tree and for her to ask me was so huge. my sister-in-law said it was bella's idea, she really wanted me.

how cool is that?
